Keratosis follicularis squamosa
Synopsis
In KFS, asymptomatic, flat, scaly papules with slightly raised borders and central follicular prominence develop on the lower trunk and thighs. The cause is unclear. Familial occurrence has been described in a small number of cases, and a locus on chromosome 7p14.3-7p12.1 was identified in one large kindred. In some cases, positive staphylococcal cultures have been obtained from the affected follicles; other cases have been linked to friction. A single case was associated with pseudoacanthosis nigricans.
