Calcinosis of the scrotum is characterized by small asymptomatic nodules involving the scrotal skin. The nodules usually appear in childhood and continue to enlarge and multiply over time. At present, the etiology of these nodules is unknown. Trauma to and calcification of dartos muscle or the eccrine glands are some other theories of the origin of the calcinosis.
In some cases, the histology shows calcified epidermoid cysts.
