A symblepharon is an adhesion between the eyelid and the eyeball. It can involve just one lid or both. This adhesion of subepithelial scarring can lead to other lid complications such as aberrant lash growth and entropion. Differential Diagnosis & Pitfalls
Because symblepharon is a physical examination end-stage finding resulting from a number of etiologies, there is really very little by way of a differential diagnosis. A very rare tumor presentation might be considered, but more significant is the determination of the underlying etiology.
